HOTEL BON VOYAGE

A proposed five star luxury boutique hotel which caters to a specific clientele of traveler.  Experienced world travelers within the age group of 45-65 of means that expect far more than the usual ‘luxury’ amenities commonly offered, superlative service, privacy ,security in addition to a special interest and appreciation of the ‘Golden Age’ of travel.

The Art Modern styling  of the up-to-date hotel is a study of the artful blend of our technological present juxtaposition to historic references of travel blended into the décor of the atmosphere of each space of the building. In conjunction to the homage to the glamour and aesthetic of travel from a by gone era, is the reality of the attention to every detail of services and services available to each guest which include personal details of the sort that only his/her personal assistant is privy to.

The Bon Voyage Hotel fits neatly within a niche of International Destinations that only the very few can aspire to.

Black & White

My first love is hand drawing and sketching in a veriety of media: Soft pencil, pen & Ink, 2H line or just quick napkin sketches with ball point pen.

Quick and easy, a concept before your eyes at a restaurant, or conference table, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Hand Rendered-Computer enhanced - 3D Modeling

In the years before the computer, marketable skill as an illustrator was an asset to all Architectural firms. As computer tecnology progressed, My skill as a designer illustrator evolved along side each advancement. Here I am showing the basic board drawing skill, as it evolves and ending with ever changind computer technology.  If you dont see what your looking for, just ask, it is more than likely in the archives.

COMPUTER DRAFTING

AutoCADD II,Revit,Archicad 17,3D MAX

What I like about computer drawing is that I dont get my paper dirty from graphite smudges, and its easier to make multiple floor copies. I do however believe that a board trained draftsman has a better relationship with design and can be more artistially creative than one who cannot draw or illustrate by hand.

INTERIOR DESIGN PRESENTATION BOARDS

These, often three dimentional, colorboards represent the various ways of materials presentation.  Sometimes within a special format, as the above Bon Voyage Hotel depicts, other times, the board is the only way a project proposal is conveyed to the customer at the time of preliminary meetings. Color boards are a tangeble way of communicaiton to clients unable to visualize in 3 dimention.

TRADE SHOWS

One might say that the arts of Visual Merchandising is the art and motif of the Trade Show, and I tend to agree. Trade show design tells a story for the merchant, from a point of sale to lavish corporate displays seen at international conferences.

Often trade show design mirrors a corporate image, or forcasts a new one, but in any case...Trade Show Design experience should be the stock and trade for any designers portfolio.

Attached are a 'few' of my examples.

CUSTOM FURNITURE

One of the things I enjoy most is Furniture. Growing up in a family that included  ' old school ' Upholsters, furniture makers, marquetry craftsman and cabinet makers, furniture is in my blood.  As the son of an upholster, I have lasting memories of the sight, smell and textures that are with me to this day. Blind

or double needle stitching, hand tied springs, individually tacked textiles to a hardwood frame, and perfect shaping, pattern matching and the appropriate textile are values I carry.

Along with that is the understanding and ability of selection and application of wood finishes, including a french, hand rubbed polish.  Also included is my knowledge and ability to design and build ( in many cases) custom furniture.

Shown here are some recient examples

GRAPHIC ARTS

A sideline design attribute  is Graphic art.  An accessory skill that is useful for many projects from business cards, menu's or signage, always useful for Interior Design that can provide a holistic look when required.
